Carpenter Ants

Carpenter ants, belonging to the genus Camponotus, are sizable insects known for their wood-boring habits. Unlike termites, they do not consume wood but excavate galleries for nesting purposes, often causing structural damage to homes and buildings. These ants are characterized by their large size, ranging from a quarter to a half-inch long, and vary in color from black to red or a combination thereof. Carpenter ants play vital roles in forest ecosystems by aiding in the decomposition of dead wood. However, when they infiltrate human structures, they pose significant threats to property integrity. Effective pest management strategies are essential to mitigate the potential damage caused by these industrious insects.
