Silverfish

Silverfish are small, wingless insects known for their distinctive tapered shape and silvery-blue coloration, resembling a fish. They prefer dark, damp environments such as basements, bathrooms, and kitchens, where they feed on starches, sugars, and carbohydrates found in paper, glue, and textiles. Despite their name, they are not fish but belong to the order Zygentoma. Silverfish are considered nuisance pests due to their destructive feeding habits, often causing damage to books, wallpaper, and clothing. While they do not pose any direct threat to humans, their presence can be unsettling, prompting homeowners to seek pest control measures to eliminate infestations.
